Pontarddulais and District Community Car Scheme
Friday 21st of February 2014 15:51
The Scheme's volunteer drivers take elderly and disabled residents of Pontarddulais and surrounding villages including Pontlliw and Tircoed to hospitals, clinics, shops and to visit friends.
Two cars are used, one of which is wheelchair-accessible.There is no membership fee for those who want to use the Car Scheme, as passengers just pay a contribution towards petrol costs, depending on the mileage.
Passengers can use the service just once or they can use it regularly, whatever suits their needs. There is a minimum charge of just £3 per journey and there are set fees to the local hospitals. Journeys are usually booked for weekdays between 9am to 5.30pm, but this can be flexible.
The Scheme is also looking for volunteer drivers. If you are able to assist and would like to volunteer please conact the Scheme.
Anyone needing a lift or would like to volunteer as a driver, can ring 01792 884944, and leave a message for the Scheme’s volunteer drivers or ring Don Richards on 01792 882606.
